Data from Satellite/Instruments: Oceansat-2OSCAT suffered an anomaly early in February 2014, which turned out to not be recoverable. After approximately 4.5 years of a 5 year design life Indian Space Research Organization formally ceased OSCAT operations on April 2, 2014. OSCAT provided the international community invaluable information on the ocean surface vector wind (OSVW) in support of research and operational weather forecasting. OSCAT helped mitigate the loss of QuikSCAT back in 2009. The two ASCAT instruments operating on EUMETSAT's METOP-A and METOP-B satellites continue to provide OSVW data that partially mitigates the loss of OSCAT. Ascending Pass
